For a business owner, a lawsuit can come out of nowhere and wind up being felt hard in the pocketbook. Commercial and office building owners are now making a special effort to ensure the safety of their building’s foot traffic—starting from the ground up.
Traction Auditing has recently announced its new “Safety by Design” traction compliance testing service. Utilizing a wet static coefficient test, Walkway Auditor Safety Specialists are able analyze the test results to identify unsafe surfaces before (and after) installation. The standards for floor safety established by this test are in compliance with the OSHA, ADA, and ANSI.
According to the National Floor Safety Institute, walking surfaces account for 55% of slips, trips, and falls. This percentage risk, more than double that of footwear (24%), leaves building owners in a vulnerable place. Through this new service, however, architects and interior designers are able to avoid both a lawsuit and unsafe installation by testing beforehand. Physical safety for building occupants and financial safety for building owners? There’s a policy business owners can stand firmly upon.
